Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes believes that head coach Michael Carrick is disappointed with the club's hierarchy regarding their summer transfer activities.
This summer, the Mancunians bolstered their midfield by signing Youri Tielemans, Andre Santos, and Carlos Baleba. However, the club failed to secure a single defender despite clear weaknesses in their backline. These recruitment errors have already cost the team, as the Red Devils have conceded in every Premier League match this season.
Scholes is convinced that the hierarchy, led by INEOS, has not provided Carrick with the necessary support following a commendable previous season:
Michael must be incredibly disappointed with what transpired over the summer. I believe he feels let down within the club. What he achieved last year was fantastic. The most crucial phase for him is the start of this season. It’s in these games that the foundation for the whole year is laid.
Manchester United has had a disastrous start to their campaign, currently sitting in 12th place in the Premier League. Carrick's side has managed just one victory in the league, a 5-2 thrashing of Ipswich Town, while dropping points against Hull City, Everton, Manchester City, and Fulham.
