Olivier Giroud has discussed how his move to Arsenal in 2012 proved to be a defining moment in his career. After a stellar season at Montpellier, the striker arrived at a club known for its elite standards and superb facilities.
"Joining Arsenal in 2012 (gave my career a massive boost). The 2011-12 season at Montpellier was one of the best of my career; it took me to another level," Giroud noted, emphasizing the significance of his transfer.
The forward fondly recalled the warm welcome from fans:
"I even played my second match at Anfield, and the fans created a chant for me to the tune of 'Hey Jude'. At the time, I didn't fully react, but I was deeply touched (laughs)."
During his five and a half seasons at Arsenal, Giroud made 253 appearances and netted 105 goals, 73 of which came in the Premier League. Under the guidance of Arsène Wenger, he clinched three FA Cups (2014, 2015, 2017) along with three Community Shields.
One of the standout moments of his career was his legendary 'scorpion kick' goal against Crystal Palace in January 2017, which earned him the FIFA Puskas Award. In January 2018, he made the switch to Chelsea.
