Former head of the German Football Association Oliver Bierhoff has suggested that Florian Wirtz might see a future move to Barcelona.
Bierhoff believes the German midfielder would fit seamlessly into the Catalan setup, especially with the prospect of reuniting with Hansi Flick.
“I could see him, for example, at Barcelona alongside Hansi Flick. There’s space for him there, and there are excellent players around him,”
he stated in an interview with Bild.
Despite Wirtz's challenging start to his career in England, Bierhoff highlighted his immense talent.
“He is an absolute world-class player who now needs to prove it again,”
the former DFB chief remarked.
Wirtz made headlines when he transferred to Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen for €125 million. Following a difficult first season in English football, the German continues to earn game time under new manager Andoni Iraola.
This season, Wirtz has started every Premier League and Champions League match for Liverpool, though he has only registered one assist so far.
The midfielder is contracted with Liverpool until 2030.
