John Obi Mikel has hailed the acquisition of Youri Tieleman for £35 million as Manchester United's best transfer. Simultaneously, the Red Devils have begun talks with Brugge for left-back Joakim Maehle at £30 million, with Arsenal also showing interest.

Former midfielder John Obi Mikel has praised Youri Tieleman's move to Manchester United, labelling it the best signing of a midfielder this summer.

Tieleman made the switch from Aston Villa for a reported fee of £35 million, leaving Mikel astonished at such a low price for a player of his calibre.

“Honestly, how the hell did United get him for £35 million? That’s an absolute steal... when I look at all the midfielders who have transferred this summer, the best by far is Tieleman,” Mikel expressed on The Obi One podcast, highlighting the player's versatility.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils are in discussions with Club Brugge over the potential signing of left-back Joakim Maehle.

United have turned their attention to the 21-year-old after Newcastle flatly refused to sell Lewis Hall.

Brugge are seeking £30 million for Maehle, but the deal could be complicated by Arsenal's interest in the player as well.
