Borussia Monchengladbach defender and Switzerland international Nico Elvedi is close to sealing a move to Leeds United. According to Fabrizio Romano and Florian Plettenberg, the two clubs have come to terms on the transfer.
The transfer fee for the 29-year-old centre-back is set at a modest €10 million, with the German outfit also receiving 15% from any future sale of the player. The relatively low fee stems from the fact that Elvedi had only one year remaining on his contract with Gladbach. The defender has already missed a friendly match against Aston Villa to finalise his move.
Elvedi, who has made 364 appearances for Gladbach, will become Leeds’ fourth summer acquisition, joining goalkeeper James Trafford, promising young talent Tarik Muharemovic, and free agent Harry Wilson.
His arrival is anticipated to expedite the transfer of Belgian defender Sebastian Bornau, who is poised to leave Leeds to join German side Hamburg.
