Attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers has commented on his decision to join Chelsea last summer.
The 23-year-old England international made the switch to Stamford Bridge from Aston Villa for a whopping £117 million, becoming the most expensive British player in football history. The newcomer has quickly established himself in the starting lineup, forming a powerful attacking trio alongside Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro.
Rogers emphasised that the transfer marked a step up in terms of competition and ambition:
It’s time for me to take the next step. I want to be regarded as one of the best players in the Premier League and in the world. To achieve that, I needed to start a new chapter in my career. I need to play and compete with the best on the biggest stage. Chelsea brings a whole new level of pressure — you’re expected to win and deliver results in every game.
The midfielder also praised the quality of his new teammates in training:
