Martin Odegaard after victory over Coventry (3-0): “Last year is behind us, we are going for a new title. Tsolis’ debut was fantastic.” Interview with Match of the Day.

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard, who found the back of the net in the Premier League opener against Coventry City (3-0), shared his thoughts on the confident win at Emirates Stadium, his determined mindset, physical fitness, and the standout debut of Christos Tsolis.

“An ideal start. It’s always nice to kick off the season with a win. A home game, three goals scored, and a clean sheet — everything felt solid and secure.

Did the World Cup with Norway help me get into shape? I think a combination of many factors played a role. Last season was quite tough for me due to injuries. It started with a title with Arsenal, followed by an excellent World Cup, and with the sense of being fully ready, coupled with a good rest — all of this brought me back to the right state.

Christos Tsolis’ debut in the Premier League? Incredible! He had a fantastic match. He looked brilliant throughout pre-season. He’s so lively, mobile, and sharp that defenders find it incredibly tough against him. Christos is a very smart footballer — he always lifts his head and finds the perfect option for a pass.

What’s the mindset for the title race? That’s exactly the mentality we’re entering the season with. We don’t feel as though we have anything to defend or hold onto. We want to do this again. Last season is history — we aim to attack a new title and fight for it once more.”
