Barcelona is keeping in touch with Marcus Rashford's agents. The Spaniards could bring the United forward back if negotiations with Atlético Madrid for Julian Alvarez fall through. The Mancunians are only willing to discuss a permanent transfer.

Barcelona has not completely shut the door on a return for Marcus Rashford. The Spaniards are still in contact with the representatives of the Manchester United forward.

According to TEAMtalk, the club retains interest in the player following his impressive loan spell last season.

During his time in Catalonia, the Englishman recorded 28 goal involvements across all competitions. However, Barcelona opted not to trigger the €30 million buy option, choosing instead to sign Anthony Gordon.

Rashford has returned to United, where manager Michael Carrick reinstated him into the starting lineup. Yet, his future at Old Trafford remains uncertain, and a departure is still a possibility.

This summer, Barcelona aimed to extend the loan deal, given that Rashford has two years left on his contract. Manchester United, however, insisted on a permanent transfer, which hindered the deal from progressing.

Rashford himself is open to a return to Spain. It remains unclear whether United would agree to a new loan with an obligation to buy.

Barcelona's need for new forwards has heightened. With Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres leaving the team, and with Runi Bardji set to miss the season through injury, reinforcements are crucial.

Despite the signings of Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, Barcelona's transfer business isn’t over yet.

The fate of Marcus Rashford is closely linked to Julian Alvarez. The Catalans are attempting to sign the Argentine, but Atlético Madrid are proving difficult negotiators.

If discussions regarding Alvarez fall through, the Englishman may once again become a priority target.
