Liverpool are considering the appointment of key Brentford figure Lee Dykes. According to Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas, he is among the candidates for the sporting director position at Anfield.
The vacancy arose following the departure of Richard Hughes, who has moved on to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal. Reports suggest that Liverpool have drawn up a shortlist of eight specialists for the role.
One option could be an internal appointment, with the club’s owners FSG potentially giving the nod to technical director Julian Ward. Meanwhile, Liverpool are also investigating the possibility of bringing in another leader to work alongside Ward in either a sporting or technical director capacity.
Among the external candidates, Dykes stands out. In recent years, Brentford have established a reputation for uncovering talent, developing players, and operating effectively in the transfer market.
This season, the Londoners have made a strong start in the Premier League, amassing nine points after five games and sitting fourth, ahead of sixth-placed Liverpool on goal difference.
