Kylian Mbappe has suffered a left knee injury while representing France and now Real Madrid await the results from an MRI scan.
Currently, the French side doesn't intend to call up a replacement for the forward during the remaining matches of the international break.
Mbappe injured in match against Turkey
Mbappe picked up the injury during Friday’s clash between France and Turkey, where he scored the only goal that secured a 1-0 victory for his nation.
The incident occurred as he struck towards goal; the forward awkwardly straightened his left leg and felt discomfort in his knee area.
France manager Zinedine Zidane confirmed that Mbappe would leave the squad.
“It’s not good news. Unfortunately, I think he has to go home. We don't want to take any risks. He overstretched his knee when taking the shot. It’s not looking promising.”
France not looking for a replacement yet
French media report that it remains uncertain whether Mbappe will be replaced in the squad for remaining matches during the international window.
France is set to face Belgium, Italy, and Turkey again, but a decision on the squad will be made based on the condition of the team captain.
It has already been confirmed that Mbappe's absence in the upcoming matches is due to his exit from the team's camp.
Real Madrid await MRI results
In Madrid, they are closely monitoring the situation. The club is concerned about the potential absence of their star striker, but the extent of the injury remains unknown.
The key question for Real is whether Mbappe will recover in time for the El Clasico against Barcelona on 25 October.
Real's next La Liga match isn’t until 10 October, giving Mbappe roughly three weeks leading up to the showdown with Barcelona.
