Manchester City midfielder Mateo Kovacic has no plans to leave the club this summer. The Croatian has reassured fans that they can count on him for the 2026/27 season.

Previously, there were rumours of his return to Italy, with interest attributed to Juventus and Inter Milan.

The 32-year-old has only one year left on his contract. He made just 9 appearances last season due to Achilles and ankle injuries. City boss Enzo Maresca commented on the player's future.

“Mateo is our player, and as long as he is here, I will do my best,” said the manager.

“My duty is to help the players show their best, and if he is here, I am happy, and we will continue to work with him.”

The player himself provided a clearer response regarding his future.

“I don’t feel any questions. They can count on me, and it’s important for the fans to hear this from me,” stated the Croatian.

“For players, it always depends on yourself to show your best version because if you play well, the coach will put you first.”
