Jurgen Klopp has blasted the officiating in the wake of Ryan Gravenberch's red card during Liverpool's defeat to Manchester City, which saw the visitors triumph 3-0.
The German manager deemed the second yellow card issued to the midfielder as excessively harsh and pointed out instances where City players seemingly escaped punishment.
"I watched the match and kept asking myself: when will this stop?
Two minor fouls result in a player being sent off, while Enzo goes unpunished for dramatically showing the referee an imaginary yellow card.
Manchester City committed about seven fouls worse than that, yet none were even noted.
Gehi and Anderson were rewarded free kicks almost every time they hit the deck.
Take note of how Enzo waved his yellow card. In the first half, Araujo was cautioned for a similar gesture. I can't even recall the last time this rule was enforced properly.
At this point, one must wonder: do the same rules apply to everyone?" Klopp declared.
Gravenberch received his marching orders after the second booking in the second half while the score was still level at 0-0. Once the midfielder was dismissed, Liverpool found themselves a man down, allowing Manchester City to capitalise and net three goals.
