19-year-old Fulham midfielder Joshua King proved to be one of the standout players in the thrilling London derby against Chelsea, netting a goal in the first half of the 2-3 clash. While this latest strike marked a significant achievement, it was almost a redemption moment, as his initial goal in a previous encounter with the Blues was controversially disallowed.
A year ago, King found the back of the net against Chelsea, only for the goal to be ruled out due to a contentious foul on Trevoh Chalobah during the build-up. Fulham's hierarchy even playfully dubbed that disallowed effort the 'Goal of the Month' within the club, supporting the young player in what many felt should have been his debut professional goal.
After the match, King reflected on the long-standing saga with Chelsea:
I don’t know what it is about my relationship with Chelsea, but perhaps I have a bit of a personal vendetta against them or it’s a story of redemption continuing. All I can do is try to help the team. I hope this goal won’t be my last this season; I’ll keep working hard on finishing and I hope to score more and more.
