Chelsea forward Joao Pedro has named the best attacking trio in Premier League history, choosing Liverpool's iconic trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino in an official interactive poll by the league.
During the voting process, Pedro compared several famed attacking lines from various eras, including:
- The Tottenham partnership of Harry Kane and Dele Alli;
- The Chelsea trio of Eden Hazard, Diego Costa, and Willian;
- The legendary Arsenal attack consisting of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, and Robert Pires;
- The star-studded Manchester United trio of Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, and Carlos Tevez.
In the end, Pedro was left to choose between the Liverpool attack and Manchester United's famous front three. He justified his preference for the Merseyside club not only because of the big names involved but also due to their unique style of play:
'Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp played and pressed in a way I've never seen from any other attacking trio in the Premier League.'
'Manchester United's trio with Ronaldo, Rooney, and Tevez also scored plenty of goals and pressed well, but they didn't showcase the same level of dominance in Europe during that period. In FIFA and EA FC, they were a true cheat code. As a fan of quality football, I’ve never witnessed anything like it in the Premier League.'
Pedro had a front-row seat to watch this trio’s brilliance when he was a substitute for Watford in October 2021, as they dismantled his team with a 5-0 thrashing. Since Salah's arrival in 2017 until Mane's departure in 2022, this trio has claimed the Premier League title, the Champions League, and various domestic cups, netting hundreds of goals along the way.
The Brazilian made the switch to Chelsea from Brighton in the summer of 2025 for a fee believed to be between £55-60 million. After a successful debut season, he signed a long-term contract running until the 2030s. This season, Pedro leads the line for the Londoners alongside Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers, under the management of Xabi Alonso. He missed Brazil's September matches due to knee issues.
