Harry Kane notched his 150th goal for Bayern Munich, securing a hard-fought victory against Bundesliga debutants Elversberg.
The Bavarians opened the scoring in the 26th minute when Ismael Saibari's cross deflected off Kane and landed perfectly for Lennart Karl to finish at the back post. The modest opponents from a town of just 13,000 people, who had already pulled off surprising victories against Bayer and Borussia Monchengladbach, were far from finished. On the 61st minute, Maurice Krattenmacher struck a sensational curled shot from outside the box into the top corner, bringing Elversberg level.
It was left to England captain Kane to rescue the reigning champions. In the opponent's penalty area, he controlled the ball and unleashed a powerful shot that beat goalkeeper Nicolas Christoph at the near post.
This goal marked Kane's first in the current Bundesliga season and his 99th in just 97 appearances in the competition. Overall, the English striker has tallied 150 goals in 153 matches across all competitions since moving from London in the summer of 2023.
As one of the leading contenders for the 2026 Ballon d'Or, which will be awarded in London this October, Kane is in sensational form. He has scored 10 goals more than any other player in the top five European leagues this season, finding the net on average every 79 minutes. Previously, he set an incredible record, netting 50 goals in just 43 matches; now he stands on the brink of surpassing Dieter Muller, who took 129 matches to reach his century in the Bundesliga.
This victory has seen Bayern climb to fourth place in the league table with seven points, while Elversberg sits in sixth.
