15-Second Brief
Galatasaray have turned away from their pursuit of Bruno Fernandes and finalised the transfer of 21-year-old midfielder Alexey Batrakov from Lokomotiv for over €30 million. The Man United captain is focused on negotiating a new four-year deal with the Red Devils.

British outlet TEAMtalk reports a shift in transfer priorities for Turkish side Galatasaray, who have abandoned attempts to sign Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes in favour of Russian midfielder Alexey Batrakov.

Galatasaray have now turned their attentions from Fernandes to the promising young star Batrakov. Club sources confirm that the attacking midfielder has always been high on their list of targets.

The Istanbul outfit made another approach for Fernandes but were met with another rejection, prompting them to focus on Batrakov, who is expected to arrive in Istanbul to complete a deal worth over €30 million after Galatasaray and Lokomotiv Moscow reached an agreement.

  • Player's Desire: The 31-year-old Portuguese star previously turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, making it clear to INEOS management that he intends to remain a key figure at United.
  • Contract Duration: Key discussions between United and the player's representatives centre around the length of the contract. Fernandes is hopeful for a four-year deal lasting until 2030, whereas his current contract, with an option for extension, runs until 2028.
  • Interest in Batrakov: The pursuit of the 21-year-old midfielder by English clubs including United, Manchester City, Chelsea, and PSG was hindered by sanction restrictions, allowing Galatasaray to seize the moment and terminate any further discussions regarding the transfer of Fernandes.
