Arsenal are keen to sell Brazilian winger Gabriel Martinelli in the current transfer window, according to Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade.
With two years remaining on Martinelli's contract, the club hierarchy believes the time has come for a decisive move, as postponing a sale could significantly lower the player's value due to the expiring deal next year.
Andrade cites the club's standpoint:
Arsenal want to sell him and are actively pursuing this objective. The club has set a minimum asking price of €50 million (£43 million) and isn't open to negotiations below that figure.
Rejections from Turkey and Saudi Arabia
The main hurdle for Arsenal is that the 25-year-old player himself is blocking potential moves that meet the €50 million asking price.
- Turkey: Turkish clubs showed strong interest and were prepared to pay the €50 million requested, but Martinelli firmly declined a move to the Super Lig.
- Saudi Arabia: Representatives from Saudi Arabia also reached out, but the winger swiftly closed that door, stating that the league does not interest him.
Andrade commented:
Martinelli was offered a move to Saudi Arabia, but he turned it down. Saudi Arabia is not a viable option for him.
Stalemate in the transfer market
Arsenal's financial demands can only be met by Premier League clubs, but the Gunners are reluctant to strengthen direct rivals in the top flight.
If a suitable offer from a European club does not materialise soon, Martinelli may be set to remain at the Emirates for another season, placing Arsenal in a precarious position with just one year left on his contract next summer.
