The star forward of Manchester City, Erling Haaland, has made a significant decision regarding his career amid uncertain times for the English club. The Norwegian goal-scorer has set his sights on Real Madrid as his dream destination.
The 26-year-old's long-term future at the Etihad is now in jeopardy following the judgment in the financial misconduct case, where Manchester City were found guilty on 114 out of 115 counts of breaching Financial Fair Play regulations. The club's hierarchy has already lodged an appeal, but the possibility of severe sanctions looms large. Punishments could include hefty fines, transfer bans, points deductions, the stripping of previously won Premier League titles, or even expulsion from the top flight.
The prospect of relegation to the Championship or lower leagues would undoubtedly trigger a mass exodus of key players. Haaland is not keen on sticking around should his Manchester side drop out of the top division. While both Barcelona and Arsenal have shown interest in the Norwegian, his priority remains a move to the Spanish capital.
Spanish outlet Nacional reports that the forward has begun discussions with his agents about a transfer to the 'Galacticos'. Furthermore, Haaland's move could be part of a monumental double deal valued at £169 million (approximately €200 million). The other key player in this transfer saga is Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise, who is also dreaming of a switch to the Spanish superclub.
Both transfers are expected to happen in the summer of 2027. Currently, Olise is hoping for a contract extension that won’t bind him to the German giants with long-term solid commitments. Haaland's future, however, is closely tied to the outcomes of Manchester City's ongoing case: if the sanctions turn out to be harsh, Real Madrid could become the setting for one of the biggest transfers ever.
