15-Second Brief
Dominik Szoboszlai will miss Liverpool's match against LASK due to hamstring issues. The club does not want to take risks with the midfielder, and the club's doctor believes a 7-10 day break could help prevent more serious damage.

Liverpool are continuing to carefully manage Dominik Szoboszlai's return after he suffered a hamstring overload. The Hungarian will sit out the upcoming Champions League match against LASK, but the club is optimistic that this brief rest will help avert more serious injuries.

Szoboszlai also missed the recent match against Manchester City, where Liverpool suffered a disappointing 0-3 defeat.

Before that encounter, Andoni Iraola addressed the absence of the midfielder:

He returned with a buildup and felt tightness in his hamstring.

Prior to the international break, Szoboszlai had been a regular feature for Liverpool, appearing in every match and subsequently playing four fixtures for Hungary in the Nations League.

The Hungarian Football Federation also weighed in on the situation, highlighting that signs of fatigue were noted during his time with the national team.

In a statement, they said:

The coaching staff had already observed signs of fatigue and overload.

This is why Marco Rossi substituted Dominik Szoboszlai in the 80th minute of the match against Georgia.

Despite the heavy workload, he returned to the club without any injuries.

Club physician György Bakamek believes Liverpool made the right choice by not risking the player.

He noted:

Dominik likely felt discomfort, which is why he will miss one or two matches.

This cautious approach helps avoid hamstring tears that could put him out for an extended period.

According to the doctor, recovery might take anywhere from seven to ten days.

If Szoboszlai requires the maximum recovery time, he could miss not just the match against LASK but also the Premier League game against Brentford and the next Champions League tie against Villarreal.

The potential return date is said to be 25 October, when Liverpool host Brighton.

For Iraola, it is crucial not to rush the recovery of one of his key midfielders, particularly after a demanding schedule and significant time spent with the national team.
