Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has revealed that Bradley Barcola may be set to make his debut in Friday’s clash against Ipswich Town.
The news comes shortly after Barcola completed his £123 million transfer from PSG on Monday, making him one of the club’s marquee signings.
During a press conference on Thursday, Iraola expressed his excitement over the new arrival:
"We are very pleased with Bradley, securing a very, very good player for our positions was a priority for us... if all goes well in training today, he will definitely be available for us tomorrow."
However, the manager noted that the winger is still lacking match fitness post-preseason.
The situation surrounding Cody Gakpo has been under scrutiny lately, especially after whispers linking him with a move to Manchester City. Iraola has eased concerns by confirming Gakpo's place in the squad. The Netherlands international has started in both league matches this season, scoring against Newcastle and providing an assist against Nottingham Forest.
Iraola added:
"My relationship with Cody has been very honest from the start... he is in good physical and mental shape, and I’m very happy he’s staying with us."
The manager also mentioned that he expects dynamic performances from his wide players, with Barcola capable of playing on both flanks.
