There seems to be a shift in focus towards potentially signing a left-back. I'm not sure whether Michael Carrick is requesting a left-back instead of a midfielder or if this is just a matter of timing.
Right now, they are concentrating on finding a left-back, and only then might they return to the question of a third midfielder.
