Defender Cristian Romero gave an emotional farewell to Spurs fans, coaches, and staff before his transfer to Atletico Madrid. The London club is set to receive around £35 million for their former captain.

Defender Cristian Romero has shared a heartfelt goodbye message to Tottenham fans as he gears up for his anticipated transfer to Atletico Madrid.

“Today I say goodbye to a place that for five seasons has been so much more than just a club. It has been my home, my challenge, and where my family and I built such an important part of our lives,” the Argentine expressed.

“I leave with a heart full of memories and immense pride for all we experienced and achieved together. When I arrived, I had a clear dream: to write my name in the history of this club. I knew the only way was through hard work, sacrifice, and achieving what had long seemed so difficult: lifting a trophy again. And we did it.”

Romero also extended his gratitude to everyone who supported him throughout his journey.

“The journey hasn’t been perfect, but I don’t want that to define my farewell. I prefer to remember the happy moments, the lessons learned, the people who stood by me, and above all, the love I received over these five years. Thank you to everyone at the club... coaches, team-mates, and staff.”

“And to the fans: thank you for loving me, for respecting me, and for making me feel like one of your own from day one. I know I haven’t been perfect, but one thing gives me peace: I’ve always given my all. I have worn this shirt with pride and all my heart. I leave the club, but part of my heart will always remain here. I was once one of you. Today I leave as one of you forever,” concluded the former Spurs captain.

Tottenham are expected to receive around £35 million for their central defender, who doned the captain's armband last season.
