Chelsea's Cole Palmer has learned the hard way that embargo rules apply to even the biggest names in football.
The midfielder took to Twitch for a live stream, showcasing EA Sports FC 27 more than an hour before its official release. Playing in Ultimate Team mode, Palmer opened packs and engaged in online matches in front of thousands of viewers. The issue? He was violating a strict publication embargo set by the game's developers.
The situation escalated when the official EA Sports FC account dropped into the stream's chat with a polite reminder:
Uh, Cole, weren’t we supposed to do this a bit later? Our official stream kicks off at 6:00 PM London time!
Shortly after, the stream was abruptly cut off, and Palmer's Twitch account faced a temporary ban for breaching copyright and agreement terms.
In true Palmer style, he took to social media to respond, tagging the developers and Twitch with a cheeky remark:
I was just giving people what they wanted... unban me, please.
During the stream, Palmer even voiced his frustrations about a dip in his virtual rating, which had plummeted from 87 to 85:
They’ve taken two points off me!, he joked live.
The ban was short-lived, as Palmer's account is already back up and running, enabling him to stream again—though he’ll likely double-check release schedules moving forward.
