The Blues' number ten opened up about his summer break, his career in London, and the moment he found out about the transfer of his close friend Morgan Rogers.
Palmer admitted that the news of Rogers moving to Stamford Bridge caught him by surprise:
He texted me asking, 'Where are you?' He was with the England squad, so I initially didn’t understand why he was concerned.
Then I saw a missed call and a message saying I had five minutes to call him back. I went downstairs and rang him. Morgan told me he was joining us. At first, I didn’t even believe it, but when I realised it was true, I was absolutely buzzing.
So who really came up with the iconic celebration?
While the football world often associates the famous 'cold' gesture with Palmer, the midfielder openly acknowledged that the idea actually came from Rogers:
I can’t quite remember how it all started, but we were chatting, and he suggested I give it a go. Morgan was the first to pull it off in a midweek match. Then on Saturday, we were playing against Luton, and I told him I would celebrate a goal like that too. I’m sure he regrets letting me!
Yes, he did it first, but I made that celebration famous! And that’s the honest truth — he admits it himself!
