Chelsea are keeping a close eye on Como midfielder and captain Lucas Da Cunha after his surprise breakthrough into the France national team. Interest from the London side for the 25-year-old emerged before he was called up by Zinedine Zidane.
Da Cunha has quickly become one of the most surprising new additions to the French squad under Zidane, and he made an impact in his starting debut during a recent victory against Belgium.
According to TEAMtalk, representatives from Chelsea, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Newcastle, and Brighton have already made inquiries regarding the potential transfer of the Frenchman. Serie A clubs Atalanta, Napoli, and Roma are also said to be monitoring his situation.
However, Da Cunha has opted to remain with Como, signing a new five-year contract. A pivotal factor in this decision was the influence of former Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas, under whose guidance the midfielder has significantly changed his role on the pitch.
Joining Como in early 2023 as a winger and attacking midfielder, Fabregas identified Da Cunha's potential for deeper play and gradually transitioned him into a holding role. This new position saw the Frenchman take on the captaincy and ultimately earn his first national team call-up.
