Barcelona are ready to consider selling one of their key defenders, Jules Kounde, as early as January, with the Frenchman reportedly interested in making a switch to Chelsea, who are keen on his services.
As the season gets underway, Hansi Flick's side is enjoying a remarkable start to La Liga, achieving seven wins from seven matches and scoring 31 goals. However, with fierce competition for places, some star players are finding it difficult to secure regular playing time. Kounde, 27, has only featured in the starting lineup once this season and has spent the last three games on the bench, losing his spot to Eric Garcia and Joao Cancelo.
Insider Graham Bailey reports that the Blues are rekindling their interest in the French defender, having pursued him unsuccessfully in 2022 before his move to Camp Nou. The Catalan club has indicated to Kounde's camp that they would be willing to discuss a sale, either in 2027 or potentially this winter.
New Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso is keen to strengthen the right side of his defence and views Kounde as a fantastic opportunity. Moreover, the London club is weighing up the future of Malo Gusto, for whom Kounde could serve as a solid replacement. Kounde himself is receptive to the idea of moving to west London, making a January transfer increasingly likely.
