Manchester United's head coach Michael Carrick and his coaching staff have devised a plan for 28-year-old striker Marcus Rashford to become one of the key players in the first team for the upcoming season.
Rashford returns to the Carrington training base after 18 months spent on loan. The striker is expected to feature in a friendly match against PSG in Sweden.
Loan conclusions and financial situation
Last season, the striker played for Barcelona, where he regained optimal form, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists across all competitions.
Barcelona's stance: The Catalan club rejected a full purchase option, and Manchester United's proposal for another year-long loan was categorically turned down.
Finances: Rashford remains the highest-paid player at the club with a salary of around £500,000 per week (including bonuses and image rights). However, Carrick and his staff do not see his financial package as a barrier to successful integration into the squad.
United's attack and alternative options
The return of the academy graduate reduces the urgency to search for another versatile forward. In Carrick's plans, the striker will compete with Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo, Benjamin Šeško, and Joshua Zirkzee.
Despite interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, MLS, and Turkish side Fenerbahçe, the player himself is not keen on moving to those leagues. He holds Michael Carrick in high regard and is ready to take on a leadership role in the new era of Manchester United.
