Jamie Carragher labelled Ezri Konsa as an average defender, predicting Arsenal fans would be disappointed with the transfer.

Football pundits Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville had a heated discussion about the transfer of England defender Ezri Konsa to Arsenal. The former Liverpool defender expressed strong scepticism over the Gunners' signing, labelling Konsa as an average defender who won't significantly bolster a top club's defence.

The experts did not see eye to eye on the potential impact of the London club's new recruit:

Carragher: Ezri Konsa to Arsenal? To be honest, I'm not impressed at all. I've watched him closely during his time with the England team at the World Cup, and I kept asking myself: what's so special about this lad?

Neville: Do you think Arsenal has made a mistake?

Carragher: Absolutely. They’ve signed a very average defender. He’s not bad, but Arsenal should be bringing in players who can drastically elevate the standard of their backline. With Konsa, I just don't see it.

Neville: That's going to infuriate Arsenal fans.

Carragher: Let them be infuriated! I'm judging the player. I've closely monitored Konsa, and I've not seen an elite centre-back there. Is he a good player? Yes. Special? Absolutely not.

Neville: So you’re saying he won’t succeed at Arsenal?

Carragher: I'm saying that Arsenal fans will quickly realise how overrated this transfer is. If Konsa turns out to be one of the league's best defenders, I’ll admit I was wrong. But as it stands? I'm just not seeing it.
