Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes faced aggressive taunts from the stands at Craven Cottage during their 5th round Premier League clash against Fulham (1-1).
The Portuguese playmaker had a tough outing, putting in hard work for the team and trying to create opportunities. However, the chances he crafted lacked the edge required to convert into goals. In the first half, Fernandes came agonisingly close to scoring, only to see his shot rattle off the crossbar, denying him his first away goal of the current Premier League season.
Aside from his on-field struggles, he was also subjected to a torrent of verbal abuse from home supporters. As Fernandes went to take a corner during the first half, a group of Fulham fans unleashed a barrage of insults and mockery aimed at the Manchester United captain.
Usually unfazed by such provocations, Fernandes responded when the jeering continued unabated. He turned to the stands with a piercing, disdainful glare, which quickly silenced the most vocal of the offenders. In response, only sarcastic shouts of "don't cry" echoed back, which Fernandes chose to ignore as he calmly delivered his corner.
At this stage of the season, Bruno Fernandes is yet to score an away goal, having netted all three of his Premier League strikes at home, where he managed a hat-trick against Ipswich Town at Old Trafford.
