Bayern Munich recently held a secret meeting with their former manager Pep Guardiola. Rumours regarding a possible transfer of Manchester City's Erling Haaland are, however, unfounded.
This update comes courtesy of journalist Christian Falk, who indicates that the German club is closely monitoring the ongoing legal proceedings involving City. These circumstances could have significant ramifications for European football at large. However, a move for Haaland to Munich appears entirely off the cards.
Vincent Kompany's side is currently focused on securing Harry Kane's future, with negotiations underway to extend the English striker's contract. Given that Haaland's earnings reportedly sit at around €35 million a year, Bayern is not in a position to match such financial demands.
Christian Falk further elaborated on the situation surrounding the Norwegian forward:
Bayern are keenly focused on contract discussions with their top striker, Harry Kane. Talks are progressing positively, and the club believes that the England international will come to a decision following the international break. Should he sign a new two-year deal, Bayern will already have an excellent player in that position. While the club admires Erling Haaland, like every club in Europe, they are so satisfied with Harry Kane that there simply isn't room for the Norwegian, either on the pitch or in the wage budget.
Additionally, Falk provided insight into the German club's meeting with Guardiola:
Last week, a secret meeting was held with former Bayern boss Pep Guardiola. The attendees included Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeness. They have chosen to stay tight-lipped on the subject, aware that this issue also concerns Pep.
