Andrew Robertson was given a rousing reception at Anfield during his first return to the stadium since leaving Liverpool. Fans stood and chanted his name as the Tottenham defender came on as a substitute.
Robertson departed the Merseyside club over the summer following the expiration of his contract, bringing to an end a nine-year spell at Liverpool. On Tuesday, the Scot returned to Anfield in a Tottenham shirt for a third-round Carabao Cup tie, where Liverpool triumphed 3-1.
After the match, Andoni Iraola expressed his delight at the warm response from the crowd. The Liverpool boss stated on BBC Radio 5 Live:
I think he deserved all of it, and I was really happy. He deserves that kind of reception because he gave so much to Liverpool.
Robertson made his entrance in the second half to a chorus of cheers, with the crowd singing a song dedicated to the Scottish defender.
